HUMAN Network for Health and Humanitarian Affairs Holds Halabja Health Committee Meeting and Intensive First Aid Training

Organized by: HUMAN Network for Health and Humanitarian Affairs (HUMAN), in cooperation with the NWE Organization for Environmental Protection and Women's Rights.
As part of the joint efforts to strengthen the health sector in Halabja Governorate and promote cooperation between civil society organizations and health stakeholders, the HUMAN Network for Health and Humanitarian Affairs (HUMAN), in cooperation with the NWE Organization for Environmental Protection and Women's Rights, organized two parallel activities on 16 July 2026 at the NWE Organization Hall: a Halabja Health Committee Meeting and an Intensive First Aid Training Course.
First: Halabja Health Committee Meeting
The meeting brought together members of the Health Committee and a number of health professionals and stakeholders to discuss the latest developments in the health sector in Halabja Governorate and the major challenges affecting healthcare services.
The meeting focused on several key issues, including:
Reviewing the current health situation and identifying major challenges facing healthcare institutions.
Discussing the priorities and needs of the health sector for the coming period.
Listening to the views and observations of committee members regarding the main health-related problems in Halabja.
Presenting practical recommendations and appropriate solutions aimed at improving the quality of healthcare services.
Emphasizing the importance of coordination and cooperation among governmental institutions, civil society organizations, and local partners.
Developing initial plans for future joint initiatives to improve health services and strengthen public health awareness.
The meeting concluded with constructive discussions and an agreement to continue holding regular Health Committee meetings while strengthening coordination and follow-up mechanisms to support the improvement of healthcare services throughout Halabja Governorate.
Second: Intensive First Aid Training Course
At the same time, the HUMAN Network organized an Intensive First Aid Training Course for 22 participants, both women and men.
The training lasted three hours and combined both theoretical and practical sessions, aiming to equip participants with essential first aid knowledge and practical skills needed to respond effectively to emergencies before professional medical assistance arrives.
The training covered the following topics:
Principles of First Aid.
Initial assessment of casualties and ensuring scene safety.
Management of bleeding, wounds, and fractures.
First aid procedures for choking and unconsciousness.
Basic Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) techniques with practical demonstrations.
Appropriate emergency response until healthcare professionals arrive.
The training featured practical exercises and interactive discussions that enhanced participants' understanding and increased their confidence in providing safe and effective first aid.
At the conclusion of the course, Certificates of Participation were awarded to all participants in recognition of their active attendance and successful completion of the training. Participants were also encouraged to share the knowledge and skills they acquired within their communities and contribute to promoting a culture of first aid awareness.

This activity reflects the commitment of the HUMAN Network for Health and Humanitarian Affairs to strengthening community health, building local capacities, and expanding partnerships with civil society organizations in order to improve healthcare services and enhance community preparedness for emergencies.
