Roundtable on Addressing Health Issues in Garmian

Introduction
As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen the health sector and improve services provided to citizens, the Human Network for Health and Humanitarian Work organized a roundtable discussion at the Culture Hall in Kalar on August 27, 2025. The meeting was attended by representatives from the Garmian Administration, academics, health institution officials, civil society organizations, representatives of the elderly and persons with disabilities, as well as the German organization Hawkarî.
Objectives of the Meeting
Discuss the major health issues facing the Garmian region.
Present the outcomes of previous discussions on health challenges.
Develop practical mechanisms and solutions to address these issues based on the available resources of each entity.
Key Discussion Points
1. Improving Health Infrastructure:
The need to upgrade hospitals and health centers.
Ensuring the availability of modern medical equipment.
2. Challenges Related to Health Workforce:
Shortage of qualified medical and nursing staff.
The importance of training and capacity building.
3. Health Status of Vulnerable Groups (Elderly and Persons with Disabilities):
Strengthening home healthcare services.
Providing rehabilitation services.
4. Coordination Among Stakeholders:
Establishing mechanisms for cooperation between government institutions and NGOs.
Enhancing partnerships with international organizations such as Hawkarî Germany.
Outcomes and Decisions
Agreement to implement phased plans to address health issues according to priorities and available resources.
Formation of a joint follow-up committee including representatives of all participating entities to coordinate efforts and implement recommendations.
Preparation of a joint action plan to enhance health awareness within the community, especially for the most vulnerable groups.
Emphasis on the importance of continuous communication between the network and local and international institutions to develop sustainable health programs.
Conclusion
All participants stressed the importance of continuing such meetings as a key step towards finding practical solutions to health challenges in the region. They also expressed their appreciation for the efforts of the Human Network in organizing this event and providing a platform for dialogue and cooperation to improve the health situation in Garmian.
