Background
On April 21, 2025, a broad meeting was convened to evaluate the overall healthcare situation in the Kurdistan Region, with a special focus on the district of Jamjamal. The discussion revealed a serious deterioration in health services and a troubling public health reality in the area.


Establishment of the Committee
As a response to the identified challenges, and in an effort to systematically assess local needs, the Citizens’ Health Committee of Jamjamal was established on June 15, 2025. The committee brings together:
Representatives from health institutions
Civil society organizations
Elders and retirees Concerned community members

Committee Objectives
✅ Assess and analyze the current health situation in Jamjamal
✅ Prepare a detailed report on needs and service gaps
✅ Organize a multi-stakeholder Roundtable Meeting to discuss causes and solutions
✅ Follow up on the implementation of outcomes and recommendations

Meeting Highlights
During the committee sessions, participants examined several pressing challenges, including:
Severe shortage of specialized medical staff
Weak training and development programs for healthcare workers
Chronic lack of essential medical equipment and supplies
The discussion focused on practical response strategies, and the committee agreed to develop a phased action plan with specific and realistic steps for improvement.
